Welcome! I’m Dan Singer, a designer & researcher. It is my goal to discover design opportunities by engaging deeply with real people about what they love and know. I believe that truly creative insights come from a dialogue between a wide array of ideas and values, and it is good design that brings those into conversation.
My background is in ethnomusicology and anthropology, practiced through long-term ethnographic research projects with experts in domains like collegiate bhangra and Appalachian old-time music. By exploring musical encounters through an ethnographic lens, I strive to better our understanding of how people creatively build identity through performance.
